Peter Kitson

Partner

London

Peter is a partner in the Contracts and Projects Advisory Team. He has specialised in transactional construction and procurement law for almost 20 years.

He drafts and negotiates construction and engineering contracts, professional appointments and related documents as well as advising on procurement and contract strategy. Peter also provides on-going advice and support in relation to the effective management of live construction contracts.

Peter acts for contractors and professional consultants as well as for developers, investors and funders. He has successfully concluded contracts for projects in sectors including residential and commercial development, transport and other infrastructure, urban regeneration schemes, energy, industrial and process plants, secure accommodation, cultural & entertainment venues, education and health both in the UK and internationally.

Peter has worked successfully with most standard form contracts and has developed bespoke contract documents as required. He has particular expertise in relation to JCT, NEC, FIDIC and ACA contracts, long-term strategic contracts and frameworks, early contractor engagement and EU procurement.

Peter’s notable experience includes industrial and commercial development in the UK, with significant refurbishment and improvement projects at landmark buildings, ports and related infrastructure in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the construction aspects of large urban regeneration schemes, acting for a government department on its procurement (and the subsequent operation) of a £1.8 billion framework of main contractors and working with the government’s trial project steering group in relation to the development of the new models of construction procurement endorsed by the Cabinet Office and now reflected in the Construction Playbook.

Peter is a member of the Society of Construction Law.

Testimonials

Peter Kitson and Will Buckby are incredibly responsive and a pleasure to work with. Both are down-to-earth and approachable but with impressive technical knowledge. I feel confident in their detailed knowledge of different standard forms of contract and have found their advice targeted and astute.Legal 500 UK 2025 - Construction – Non-Contentious
